#744 - Myeongdong Kyoja / Sinseon Seolnongtang

Have been lazy to type things here lately, actually edited most of the photos, they are just waiting to see the light. And since I feel more efficient and also wanted to clear my backlogs, 我回来了.

STILL at Korea, tonight's it about food in Myeongdong! Okay only blogging two here actually.

Read a few travelogues while preparing for the Korea trip and saw that many recommended this place, Myeongdong Kyoja (Gyoza).
They have 2 branches in Myeongdong and I think the one we went was the second one.


It is a restaurant which sells gyozas which are similar to the xlbs we know, except without soup, as well as handmade noodles akin to that of our Singapore's banmian.
Dumplings which were filled w meat, it's pretty good. (Y)

Really look like banmian right! They called it kalguksu aka chopped noodles, maybe like 刀削面? Tasted really different from what I expected, and it takes a while for me to get use to. But this bowl of noodles would definitely be perfect on a rainy day. :)

Food to share for 4, saving space for second round hehe.

For second round, we had this yummy seolnongtang (설농탕) introduced to us by Siwon, our facilitator-friend in Korea!! It's basically ox-bone soup w beef slices served w a bowl of rice! Damn good! Like you add the rice in and eat together. Omg I want it now. T.T

Didn't have a photo of the shopfront, but see the top of the photo above. The half face laoahpek cartoon! Spot him and you'd know you are at the right place lol.

A simple dish can make me so happy. Hahaha.
Oh and you can add the salt provided accordingly to your taste.

But I am not sure if the standard is the same for all the branches because even though the Myeongdong one was good, the one at Hyehwa (tried it again the day before I left because I don't want to crave for it) was bad. Like we added a lot of salt already but it was still bland. D:

I like the kimchi too! Like it's the very fresh and crunchy kind, not those ferment very long one although I know many say kimchi are supposed to 放越久越好吃. To each his own.

This restaurant has many outlets in Seoul and is opened 24 hours too, perfect for late night suppers where you don't wanna have something too sinful. ;)

Go out from Exit 8 and head straight 300m along Myeongdong 8-gil Road. Turn right in front of Woori Bank. Walk a little more and you will see the shop on the right.
